Monique M. Barbour, M.D.

About Monique M. Barbour, MD: A Board Certified Ophthalmologist

I am a native of Washington, D.C. where I grew up within walking distance of Capitol Hill. I left home to attend Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina where I received my bachelor's degree in Pre-Medicine.   I received my medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and I completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y.

After that, I completed a  Glaucoma fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and a Refractive Surgery fellowship at the world renowned Institute de Clinica Barraquer in Bogata, Columbia.    I have been  the medical director of Clear Vue Laser Eye Center, a comfortable, state-of-the-art vision care center for the past 15 years.  As a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, I am  dedicated to providing the highest quality of ophthalmic care. I have in fact performed thousands of microsurgical procedures including “No Stitch” cataract surgery. I am well trained and equipped to diagnose and treat all kinds of patients including diabetics. I have both a fundus camera and an OCT in the office. In addition to the above, I do use BOTOX, RESTYLANE and JUVEDERM injections for facial and eyelid rejuvenation.

I can be urgently consulted for ocular emergencies of any kind. I treat all patients of any age and I am also trilingual. I am on staff at Wellington Regional Medical Center and I  have privileges at Palm Beach Outpatient Surgery Center and Wellington Surgical Center. I can provide  ophthalmology care to those patients that reside in Assisted Living Facilities and other Nursing Facilities that face everyday challenges with transportation, immobility, and availability. This consists of thorough examinations, diagnostics, treatments and even some minor surgical procedures at bedside with the patient.

I'm prepared with all the portable equipment and supplies and I usually have an assistant to accompany me to perform any immediate or extended care needed.  On a personal note I reside not too far away from the office with my husband an 3 kids.  My son is a student and works part time at the office.  Both my daughters are wonderful singers.  I enjoy traveling to strange places with my family, playing guitar chords and horseback riding lessons.  Last year I got a certificate to sail when I completed my 'crew course.'
